Who
is eligible to participate in MSU HEP?
To
be eligible for the Michigan State University High School Equivalency Program
you must be a migrant or seasonally employed agricultural worker or his/her children
who has spent 75 days in migrant and/or seasonal farmwork in Michigan during the
past 24 months; or has been eligible for, or has participated in migrant programs
or in a Work Force Investment Act Program for migrant or seasonal farmworkers.
Who is a migrant and/or seasonal farmworker?
- Seasonal farmworker: a person employed
in farmwork on a temporary or seasonal (not year-round) basis.
- Migrant
farmworker: a seasonal farmworker whose employment requires travel which keeps
the farmworker from returning to a permanent home within the same day.
Must
be at least 17 years of age or over, or beyond the age of compulsory school attendance. Must
not have secondary school diploma or its equivalent. Must
not be currently enrolled in school. Agree
to participate in the required tutorial, academic, and cultural programs and activities
as designated by MSU HEP staff. Demonstrates
initiative to study in preparation for passing the GED exam. Demonstrates
initiative to observe the rules of Michigan State University and MSU HEP. Return

MSU HEP students are admitted for Fall
(September) & Spring (January) admissions. Our program of recruitment continues
through the entire calendar year, however, early application is strongly encouraged
as space is limited. Return

do I Apply for HEP?
Each applicant must complete an MSU HEP application
before he/she will be considered. To request an application packet please contact
the MSU HEP recruitment coordinator toll-free at 1-866-432-9900. Also the application
can be downloaded and completed in a PDF format (click
here), please mail the printed copy to:

To
be considered, application materials must be received at least three weeks before
the start of our academic period. Spring 2008 - January 22, 2008.
Fall
2008 - September 8, 2008.

process and answer any questions regarding any aspect of our MSU HEP program.
